“THE JOURNEY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING — LIBBY OSWIN” — A TRUE STORY.

Hey Everyone.

My name is Amanda and I am an aspiring journalist working at “The Hindu”. This is the first of many articles that I will be writing for my learning and experience.

Let me be honest, unlike many people I am not a great writer but an amateur and am still deciding on what to write. I have been planning this for about a week now but the funny part is I don’t know what to write on. Like I said this is my first time and I got no clue whatsoever.

Guess what? Am still deciding on what to write.

Isn’t it funny and annoying at the same time?

It’s funny how ideas pop up in your head before you could write. The moment you pick up your pen you go blank and you just sitting there wondering what to come up with.

Let me tell you this anyone can write because we all are literate enough to write a couple of paragraphs on any given topic. The real struggle is to make sure your story reach people on a personal level. Now that’s an art.

Don’t you agree?

I understand that you are losing patience and struck with annoyance at a whole different level. The good news is I figured out what to write.

Just like everyone I was restless. I went to the kitchen grabbed a cup of green tea and went straight to my mother’s office and thought to myself why not write about someone who has inspired me personally.

So, today I am going to talk about that one person who has inspired me and a million other lives.

We all know how big the digital marketing industry is and how it’s been evolving for the past couple of years. According to stats, the industry will see a growth of 50 % in the year 2030.

One such person who made it big in the industry with no clue about the market whatsoever literally started from scratch. If you belong to the industry you would definitely know him and his presence on digital media.

His name is Libby Oswin.

He is a Entrepreneur, Blogger, Google Ads expert , Consultant, etc. The list just goes on.

Life is a journey of twists and turns.

I think most of you would agree with me.

Let me begin by talking about his journey that started in 2020. Just like anyone else Libby was a working professional, leading a monotonous life, just going with the flow like everyone else.

There is a famous saying “ Only a dead fish goes with the flow”

I think that makes a lot of sense. Most people go with the flow. They got no ambitions, no goals, living a life that is struck with immense boredom and bills and responsibilities, and whatnot.

Most people are afraid to take risks. They are so insecure because of the sheer pressure they get from society.

A Leap of faith is all it takes. If you have faith in yourself, you can definitely move mountains.

Trust me when I say this.

Before 2020 Libby had worked with reputed organizations like JP Morgan & Chase, Google, etc.

I know what you thinking. Most people struggle to get into companies like this. So why did he quit?

I will break it down for you.

The problem with these companies is that they make you slog forever. They are surely benefiting.

What about you? Where has that taken you so far?

I do agree that they pay you a bomb but again that is constant throughout the year every month. You are just happy with the constant salary that you get paid every month because it pays your bills.

Ask yourself this. Is this what you want?

Don’t you feel bad when you look at your well-settled friends?

Working with these companies certainly puts you in a trap. It’s like a loop. You are just stuck there not knowing what to do.

Tell me if I am wrong.

Remember you always a choice. Life is all about making choices.

So why not make a good one that changes you and makes you financially independent.

I would want to ask you this. Be honest.

Aren’t you tired and stressed from the 9–5 jobs? Don’t you think it gets monotonous at one point in your life?

You go to work in the morning and you do the same stuff every day and the day after that and the day after that. Eventually not realizing that you had already wasted 5–10 years of your life doing the same thing whereas there were so many things you could have done differently by making the right choice at some point in your life.

Agree?

Whatever has been written above was a conversation between me and him. And it struck me so hard because it all made sense.

What do you think?

We have reasons to do certain things but that shouldn’t be an exuse for you to not come up.

Most people live a life of desperation these days.

We keep wanting a lot of things but we aren’t ready to put in some effort to make it happen. We just keep daydreaming and one day you realize that you are old enough to make a change in your life.

Is that what we are capable of?

Am sure you are wondering why did Libby quit his job. When it’s a dream for most people to get into firms like these. Besides he was getting well paid and taken well care of.

Well, you are right about that and I was wondering about it too.

When I asked him that he told me the reason he quit is that he understood what he wanted in life and definitely not a monotonous job that requires you to slog your a** day and night.

He had a vision and he wanted to do something that would change his life forever as well as have an impact on others.

In layman’s terms, he wanted to be his own boss and create a solution for something that needs attention. In a way benefitting him and the society as well.

All this began in November 2020 when he decided to enroll himself in an internship program that was hosted by DigitalDeepak.

For all those who don’t know about him. Digitaldeepak is one of the best digital marketers in India. His journey started in 2007 when he wrote a blog about motorcycles. His website “Digitaldeepak.com” is ranked as one of the top 10 digital marketing blogs in India and it has become a well-known brand ever since.

Let me give you a quick insight into Digitaldeepak.

He has an interesting approach to digital marketing. His vision was to create 1 million digital marketers in India. He has the world’s largest Facebook group.

However, Libby had a keen interest in digital marketing for a long time before he could step into the industry.

That’s when this internship program had caught his attention and he said “Why not “.

The best part is that this internship program pays you to learn. It is technically free.

Libby saw the potential and he took advantage of it and started mastering the skills.

I mean, after all, we all need hands-on experience to master a certain craft.

Agree?

I personally feel that hands-on experience is the best way to learn something.

So on November 30th, 2020, Libby enrolled himself in the internship program. That decision changed everything for him. The duration was 3 months.

All this written above is a conversation I had with him when I interviewed him. I still remember when I met him 3 years ago we had a good chat about his success and he told me how bad he used to be at blogging or writing for that matter. How he struggled to get himself a name and build an empire from scratch.

He is one of the top three digital marketers in India as of today.

If this is not motivation I don't know what is.

I was so inspired by him and that changed everything for me too. I made the right choice because of him and I changed my career and here I am today writing a blog.

So by Feb 2021 he had completed his internship program successfully and was earning already during the internship program.

Once he completed the program he freelanced for about a year and a half and also growing his family business simultaneously. In 2024 he decided to launch his own company.

His company's vision was to help the small-sized and medium-sized businesses grow as the big companies were dominating these small businesses.

He was already helping them grow while freelancing and he wanted to make it mainstream.

Well, guess what?

It worked and it became a huge success.

Through his company, he has helped a lot of people grow and evolve into the business of various sectors certainly creating an impact on them like he dreamed of.

He also helps young people like you and I grow in the digital marketing field.
